Welcome to the Upshur County, West Virginia LIVE SCANNER FEED, brought to you as a public service by Signal Zero Video Productions. This site is being monitored with a Radio Shack Pro 197 Digital Trunking Receiver. We hope you enjoy listening to this feed.
This feed will be monitoring the following in Upshur County, WV: law enforcement communications from the Buckhannon Police, Upshur County Sheriff, WV State Police - Buckhannon Detatchment.
As of February 15, 2018, this feed will be following public safety broadcasts in Barbour, Lewis, Randolph & Webster Counties in West Virginia, as these counties boarder Upshur.
This feed will be monitoring all Upshur County Fire Service communications from the following: Station 1 Buckhannon Fire Department, Station 2 Washington District Volunteer Fire Company, Station 3 Adrian Community Volunteer Fire Department, Station 4 Banks District Volunteer Fire Department, Station 5 Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department, Station 6 Warren District Volunteer Fire Department, Station 7 Selbyville Volunteer Fire Department, and Station 77 Upshur County EMS.

West Virginia Code §15-3-5.
"Use of information obtained by interceptions of transmissions on department of public safety communications system forbidden; penalties.
"No person shall intercept any message or transmission made on or over any communications system established by the department of public safety and use the information obtained thereby to aid, abet or assist in committing a crime, or in violating any law of this state, or use the same in a manner which will interfere with the discharge of the department's operations.
"Any person who violates any provision of this section or of section two of this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be sentenced to confinement in the county jail for a period not to exceed one year or by a fine of an amount not to exceed five hundred dollars or by both such confinement and fine in the discretion of the court."
Explaining the difference:
Conventional is the old standard type of scanning, using a dedicated frequency, such as 154.905 Mhz, assigned to each function, such as Dispatch, Car-to-Car, or ‘Channel 3.’
Trunking uses trunk technology, in which a pool of 3 to 24 frequencies is shared by many users. No frequency is assigned to any specific use.
